Prep senior Andrew Costello, one of 20 players 18-years and younger in the country to be selected to the United States national team, won a gold medal in Japan as the US defeated the host country 2-0 in the title game. Andrew hit .429 in the tournament while driving in five runs. The Americans went 8-1 in the event and this marked the second time Costello won a gold medal for his country.
