2023-2024 marks Coach Michael J. Hahesy’s 14th year as the Prep wrestling coach and 35th year overall of coaching wrestling. Hahesy's overall record at Prep is 193-57. He has coached 20 Northwest Regional champions, 50 District X champions, and four wrestlers to five state titles (Carter Starocci 2018-2019, Kawaun DeBoe 2019, Dorian Crosby 2020, and Jacob VanDee 2021).

Hahesy started his coaching career at Warren High School. He would later move on to McDowell for three years, where his teams finished 37-5 overall. His overall head coaching record at Warren, McDowell, and Cathedral Prep currently stands at 241-75.

Coach Hahesy began his collegiate-level coaching career at Gannon, where he would coach for four years. He then moved on to coach the Edinboro University Fighting Scots for nine years.

Hahesy was born and raised in Iowa. He was a state champion at Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids and continued his wrestling career at the University of Iowa and Edinboro University to become an AAU National Champion, NCAA runner-up, and NCAA champion.  He considers himself very fortunate to have wrestled under some of the best wrestling coaches in the nation, including Dan Gable. He is in several wrestling halls of fame and has worked at wrestling camps throughout the United States.

Having earned his EdD in School Administration/Education, he is currently a professor at Edinboro University in the Education Department.  He is happily married to Paige Hanlon-Hahesy and the proud father of three daughters: Madison/Brett (working on her law degree at Duquense University), Haley/Derek (centric consulting in Columbus, Ohio), and Hunter/Matt (an instructional facilitator in Loudoun County School District in Virginia, who was previously the statistician/manager for the Prep wrestling team).
